What To Expect With A Neck Lift

Hospital stay: 1 night recommended, Surgery time: 3 - 4 hours, Anaesthetic: General

Your surgeon will make small incisions under your chin and behind your ears to access a neck muscle called the platysma. They will make adjustments to the muscle before tightening the skin across the whole neck area. If necessary, liposuction may also be used alongside your neck lift to remove excess fat.

Neck Life Recovery

You will experience some pain, swelling and bruising immediately after the operation. Painkillers can be taken to relieve this as well an application of an ice pack. Your symptoms will start to improve over the next few weeks. The full benefits of your neck lift will take around three to six months to be fully visible. After your procedure, it is important to wear loose clothing and avoid anything that needs to be pulled down over your head. It is also advised to spend your first few days of recovery in bed and avoid moving your neck as much as possible. You should have two weeks off work and gradually return to normal activities within four to six weeks.

Neck lifts are commonly performed procedures and more cases than not, are very successful. Complications following a neck lift are very rare.
