Dr Rory Barr’s journey into psychiatry was shaped by a deep understanding of mental health and a strong desire to support those in need. Originally drawn to technology, he pursued a degree in Computer Science at Queen’s University, Belfast. However, a personal encounter with the effects of mental illness in a close friend led him to re-evaluate his career path, ultimately inspiring him to train as a psychiatrist.

Dr Barr completed his medical degree at King’s College London in 2012 before undertaking his Foundation training in the South East. He later specialised in Psychiatry, training in both Dundee and Edinburgh, where he refined his expertise in mental health care. In 2017, he became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and subsequently completed his advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2021. Following this, he relocated to Berkshire with his family to take on the role of Consultant Psychiatrist.

Currently, Dr Barr plays a pivotal role within the NHS, where he was the Children and Young Person’s Eating Disorder Service lead Consultant, and currently supports the Wokingham Specialist Community Team. His extensive experience in adolescent mental health has made him a trusted expert in the field.

In addition to his NHS work, Dr Barr has expanded his private practice to offer expert psychiatric care at Berkshire Grove Hospital, the Cardinal Clinic in Windsor, and Bridge Clinic in Maidenhead. His patient-centred approach ensures a tailored and compassionate experience for individuals seeking support for mental health concerns.

For those looking for private psychiatric care in Maidenhead, London, or Surrey, Dr Rory Barr provides specialist expertise in CAHMS at Berkshire Grove Hospital, a luxury private hospital committed to the highest standards of personalised care.
