Skin Cancer Nurse Specialist
I graduated from The University of Bedfordshire with a BSc in Adult Nursing. I started my career in Dermatology Nursing in 2006. I have held positions from Junior Staff Nurse through to Nurse Consultant in 3x Dermatology Units in NHS Hospital Trusts in the South East of England and have extensive experience in the field. In 2014 I specialised in Skin Cancer Nursing and graduated from The University of Hertfordshire in 2022 with an MSc with Distinction in Skin Lesion Recognition and Management. Within my current NHS practice I am a Nurse Prescriber, combined with my skills in Dermoscopy I independently run Nurse led clinics performing skin examinations to evaluate for, diagnose and treat skin cancers.
I have over 10 years experience in undertaking mole checks and skin cancer screening. I am a core member of an NHS Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary Team. More recently I have worked in the West of England in Dermatology and Plastic Surgery departments with clinical insourcing services supporting NHS Trusts in managing skin cancer pathways and waiting lists providing a one stop skin cancer see and treat service.
I have a keen interest in education of patients and colleagues participating in annual Skin Cancer Symposium events, I am a member of the British Dermatology Nursing Group, Surrey and Sussex Cancer Alliance (Skin Cancer subgroup), Thames Valley Cancer Alliance (Skin Cancer Sub Group) and Melanoma Focus charity where I attend educational events and conferences.
