Arm Lift

Arm lift, brachioplasty, for sagging skin under arms

Also known as: Brachioplasty

Over time, upper arms can be particularly prone to sagging. For many, this can cause a feeling of self-consciousness, particularly during the warmer months. Exercise can strengthen and tone the arm muscles but does not help to eradicate loose skin. An Arm Lift can be the perfect solution for this. Liposuction can be performed at the same time to enhance results. An Arm Lift especially alongside Liposuction will result in smooth and toned arms, and in turn, highly increased self-confidence.

What To Expect With An Arm Lift

Hospital stay: 1 night recommended, Surgery time: 1.5 - 2 hours, Anaesthetic: General

During the procedure, incisions are usually made on the inside or back of the arm, so scars will be less visible. Afterwards, your wound will be dressed and you may be given a compression garment to minimise swelling. A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid.

Arm Lift Recovery

You will need to book at least a week off work to allow you to recover. Full recovery should take between four and six weeks. During this time you should also avoid any strenuous activities and exercise. You must avoid lifting anything for a few days. During your recovery, you are advised to take painkillers to help with any discomfort. You are also advised to wear loose or sleeveless tops.

Arm Lift Risks

Complications and risks following Arm Lifts are very rare, especially when carried out by a highly skilled surgeon. However infection can sometimes occur. In these cases, antibiotics will be prescribed. You will probably experience some pain, swelling and bruising immediately after the operation. This is normal and your symptoms will start to improve over the next few weeks. Before your procedure you will have a consultation with your surgeon during which they will outline all risks of the procedure and you can discuss any concerns you may have.
